From CNA to DNP — and still figuring out work-life balance

I didn't start in a corner office. I started as a CNA, doing the hands-on work of patient care from the ground floor. From there: BSN, then MSN, then DNP, then a post-doctoral certificate on top of that. On paper, it looks like I had it all figured out.

I didn't. Somewhere between short-staffed shifts and picking up overtime just to make it work, I hit the same wall a lot of nurses hit: burnout. Nursing school never taught me work-life balance — I had to go find it myself, and that search is what led me into remote and non-traditional nursing roles.

Exit the Bedside exists so no nurse has to stumble onto that path alone. Everything here — the job drops, the guides, the templates — comes from someone who's actually lived both sides of it: the bedside grind, and the search for something sustainable.
